It’s time to have a look at a motherboard from Abit, based on the X38 chipset. This board carries the name ABIT IX38-QuadGT, and stands out from the Abit IP35 Pro with a new chipset and improved cooling. Everything else though is copied from the previously mentioned motherboard. As said before, the new feature is the IX38’s use of the X38 chipset, which is the enthusiast solution compared to the P35 chipset. Among others, 45nm support, three PCI-E slots, special Abit Uguru overclocking software can be mentioned as features. All in all, we’re in for an exciting review.

The Sandy Bridge processors were released January 3rd, and with these came a new chipset. January 10th was the day that the new architecture was officially launched with the products. ASUS are very well-known as a motherboard manufacturer, and of course they had to play along when the new Sandy Bridge processors were released. • MSI H55M-ED55 with Intel H55 Express

    20/03 - 2010

In the past few years, MSI or Micro-Star International as they’re also known as has made an aggressive move into the global market. Large parts of Europe have especially noticed their presence. Many people might remember them from OC competitions, like MSI Overclocking Arena, which also took place here at Tweak.dk, with the winners competing against other teams at MSI headquarters in the Netherlands.

As a part of their rebuilt of a better image, and increasing marketing, production numbers isn’t the only thing that has gone up. MSI has also realized the importance of listening to the user’s needs, and use the feedback as constructive criticism. The result is of this is a series of interesting motherboards – like the P55 ”Big Bang” series – and the product in focus today, called H55M-ED55 as seen above.

  • MSI K9A2 Platinum (UK)

    01/02 - 2008

It's time to have a look at a motherboard from MSI. For me personally, it's been a while since I've owned or dealt with anything from Microstar. I think the last time was when the netburst technology from Intel had its peak, and the hottest thing out there was a 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 processor, overclocked beyond 2.4 GHz. But this isn't history class, and now we're dealing with AMD's latest creation, the new 790FX chipset. There are not a whole lot of motherboards using this chipset at the moment, and if we remove the ones equipped with 4 PCI-Express slots which give you the Quad CrossFire opportunity, there are probably only a couple boards out there. Actually I tried searching for reviews of this motherboard, but only came up with a couple news flashes about MSI's release of the motherboard. The reason for this might be the limited spread of AMD's new Phenom processor with 4 cores. Something the motherboard manufactures isn't too happy about.

  • MSI K9A2GM-FIH with Radeon HD 3200 (UK)

    07/07 - 2008

Once again AMD is ready with another integrated solution for a chipset and graphicscard. The motherboard on the bench today is from MSI, called MSI K9A2GM-FIH. The motherboard is primarily aimed at the HTPC people and the system integrator. There's a number of HTPC manufactures because there's more money to be made with these machines. A lot of configuration is connected to HTPC's which to some degree justifies the higher price. The motherboard is the first we've seen with AMD's 780G chipset.

  • MSI K9N2GM-FD/FIH med GeForce 8200 (UK)

    19/06 - 2008

Once again, AMD is ready with an integrated solution for chipset and graphicscard. The motherboard we’re reviewing is from MSI, called K9N2GM-FD/FIH. The chipset also goes by the name of 730a or GeForce 8200 chipset. We’re reviewed motherboards from MSI previously, and know them as some of the most popular on the market, which sets our preliminary expectations high. The motherboard is aimed at entry-level, so we’re at the low end of the scale. The motherboard follows the M-ATX standard.

  • MSI P35 Platinum Combo (UK)

    06/04 - 2008

INTRODUCTION: From MSI we have received a P35 Platinum Combo motherboard which is based on the new P35 Express chipset from Intel. What sets this motherboard apart from its rivals is the possibility of using both DDR2 and DDR3 memory modules. The chipset is cooled by a large heat pipe cooler.

  • MSI P6NGM-FD (UK)

    10/04 - 2008

In this review, we’re testing an MSI product. Lately we’ve reviewed a series of both graphics cards and motherboards from MSI. In this review, we’re dealing with their P6NGM-FD motherboard. The MSI P6NGM-FD is bases on Intel’s socket 775 and designed for office machines or media centers.
