The product: As always, when dealing with a Thermalright product, you know it’s a quality product.
The last thing we look at before benchmarking the Thermalright Ultima-90l cooler is the mounting of the product. The last time we reviewed a Thermalright cooler it got a lot of negative critics, and it will be exciting to see if Thermalright has changed anything since then.
Installation: We’ve now reached the mounting part. The Thermalright Ultima-90l will be mounted on the Intel socket LGA775. To mount the cooler on this socket, the following is required:
There’s a lot of small things to control. Because the cooler needs a backplate, you must take the motherboard out of the case. First step is to mount 4 bushings in the backplate, which is done with help from the four rubber rings.
After this, you must control the backplate, a mount, a screw and the screwdriver at the same time. It must be possible to do this in an easier way.
When the mount is installed on the motherboard, the Thermalright Ultima-90l can be mounted. This is done with two spring screws. The biggest critics point about the last Thermalright cooler we reviewed was that it was almost impossible to screw the cooler in to place. Luckily it’s much easier with this cooler, which means that this cooler is a lot easier to install.
