INTRODUCTION GeForce 8000 is a new series of graphics cards from NVIDIA that differs from the 7000 series, mainly with its support of DirectX 10 from Microsoft. The center of attention is the G80 core which really adds a noticeable boost for this new range of graphics cards.
GeForce 8800 Ultra belongs to the very high-end of this series, and in this test we are going to have a look on Sparkle’s unique Calibre edition. Calibre is a new series of quality graphics cards that offer several features that we will go about later on. A special feature is the m-Sorceress II cooler fan that is attached to this card from stock.
PACKAGING Sparkle’s Calibre GeForce 8800 Ultra comes in a black box with “Calibre” and the logo printed on top.
The card is securely wrapped up inside the box to avoid any damage during transportation.
ACCESSORIES Sparkle’s Calibre GeForce 8800 Ultra is packed with a small range of various accessories. A DVI -> CRT converter, a S-Video cable, a composite cable, two PCI Express power connectors as well as a power connector for the fans and the small TEC heat sink on the card itself.
Other than that, the package also includes a quick start guide, a cd-rom containing the drivers and a folder regarding the Calibre club, which is a free membership club offering certain benefits.
