The test:
The last benchmark to cover in this review will test the RAM performance. For this Everest is used, as well as Winrar. The results of the test is as following:

Again it’s obvious that the MSI P6NGM-FD isn’t made for breaking any world records, but instead designed for mid-end performance and to have a lot of different features on a single mATX motherboard.
The very last thing to cover in this test of the MSI P6NGM-FD is the motherboards ability to play a number of different video formats – the CPU load when playing the files will then be measured.
The following videos have been used:
• SAW 1 - dvd • Microsoft Flight Simulator X trailer - 1280x720 WvC1 VC1 code • Rush Hour 3 Trailer - 1920x816 H.264 code • Coral Reef Adventure trailer - 1440x1080 WMV3 VC-1 code |
As seen, the MSI P6NGM-FD will be tested when playing a number of encoding formats. The results of the test are as follows:

The MSI P6NGM-FD has no problem playing any of the tested formats, so even though the 3dmark performance wasn’t exactly impressive, the MSI P6NGM-FD motherboard performs very well in DVD and HD playback.
Conclusion:
In this test we’ve reviewed the MSI P6NGM-FD. The motherboard is also available in a FIH and L version, where the FIH is definitely the most interesting version, offering HDMI and firewire. But in this test it was the P6NGM-FD model.
With its small form factor and good playback performance, the MSI P6NGM-FD is a great choice for a media center. Unfortunately this model doesn’t have HDMI, which is a big minus.
MSI has put a lot of thought into designing the P6NGM-FD motherboard, and the only misplaced thing is the P4 plug, which should have been placed along the edge of the board instead. The MSI P6NGM-FD isn’t qualified for a complete gamer pc solution; the 3dmark performance is way too low.
The last negative thing to say about the MSI P6NGM-FD is the bundle – or lack of same. You can hardly say that you get what you need. The least you could expect was a couple of SATA cables, an IDE cable and perhaps a floppy cable – and last but not least, a manual would have been nice.
Even though there are a number of issues with the MSI P6NGM-FD, undersigned still has a good feeling after reviewing the MSI P6NGM-FD motherboard. The motherboard is passively cooled, and it’s possible to connect a range of units to the motherboard. The price for the MSI P6NGM-FD is 380, - - a price that makes the MSI P6NGM-FD a very interesting motherboard.
