The built-in memory controller in the AMD CPU, has never had a problem beating Intel, so there's nothing new to see here. In PCMark05 AMD and Intel is very close in many of the tests. Good performance in this price range.
The Transparent Windows test is surprising for AMD. HD XP startup though is a good indicator of NVIDIA raid not always being the preferred.
The raid controller on the AMD motherboard is actually quicker here, and the machine seems well balanced.
In the processor test in Sisoft Sandra 2007, Intel is unbeatable. Core 2 Duo is quicker, but you also pay for that. Not all is lost though, with an overclock of 2.73 GHz, the X2 processor reaches a score close to Intel's rival.
Conclusion: Because this is the MSI Platinum motherboard, nothing is missing. There's a broad variety of BIOS features for overclocking, fan control and control of temperatures etc. The motherboard overclocks well with a small and cheap X2 processor from AMD, which gives you super value for money. The heatpipe cooling of the chipset ensures a cool and noiseless motherboard.
The motherboard supports Crossfire X, with 4 graphics cards as soon as a driver is ready for it, plus a monster power supply. Keep an eye on MSI's website for more information.
We miss something like a WIFI card in the bundle, providing easy access to wireless networks. I've performed the test with a Wifi card from D-Link, which worked perfectly.
o Passive heatpipe cooling o Crossfire X support o eSATA connections o Great motherboard for cheap X2 processors (OC)
