Hardocp har set nærmere på det nye ATI Radeon X850 XT-PE til AGP 8x.
It is great to see ATI are still supporting the AGP crowd. While PCI-Express is catching on, there are still a lot of AGP users out there that want to upgrade to the latest video cards without having to upgrade their whole system in the process.
ATI now provides AGP system owners the option to upgrade to the absolute fastest VPU ATI provides, the RADEON X850 XT-PE. The AGP version of the RADEON X850 XT-PE is exactly the same as the PCIe version in features and clock speeds. Therefore, whether you have a PCIe platform or an AGP platform, you can now have the latest and fastest VPU from ATI in your system.
So what will this video card cost? You’ll be pleasantly surprised actually. The AGP RADEON X850 XT-PE has an MSRP of $499, which is $150 less than the MSRP of the PCIe RADEON X850 XT-PE when it debuted last December. That’s right; you may be able to find the AGP version of the X850 XT-PE for less than the PCIe version. If you have an AGP system and are contemplating upgrading your video card performance, you can not only save money by keeping your current motherboard, but you may also save money buying an AGP version of the RADEON X850 XT-PE instead of the PCIe variant. It seems that good things have finally come to those patient AGP users who waited for ATI's next move.
