RAID-5. Just saying the phrase conjures up thoughts of complex, high-end hard disk setups which are much too complicated and expensive for your average users. RAID-5 was once only considered for the most mission critical servers, but now that the technology is starting to drift down in price, we're seeing more people setting up RAID-5 arrays for their basic servers and workstation. While we saw RAID-5 technology starting to mature towards the mass markets in 2004, 2005 appears to be the year in which RAID-5 technology truly makes it on to the desktop.
