But the new 'Newcastle' Model 3000+, with 512kb L2 but running at the same speed as the 1MB L2 Model 3200+ (2GHz) has been spotted out in the wild today.
I'm certain we'll get our hands on both at some point, I'm just curious to see how both will be marketed. They share the same socket and Model designation, but crucial architecture differences. Would you prefer 1MB of L2 and 1.8GHz, or 2GHz and 512kb L2?
However the 2GHz, 512kb version isn't scheduled for release until 2Q 2004, so its spotting today was a little earlier than most were expecting and it remains to be seen if it will ship in quantity, or even ship outside of select markets and OEM model lines.
The 1.8GHz Model 3000+ will see light of day before the year is out though, we should have a CPU or a full box built around it soon. Keep an eye out for that.
