I was very pleased with the performance I got from the 9800 Pro 256MB. It was the first time I could turn on all the graphical extras and still keep 6x AntiAliasing and 16x Anisotropic filtering enabled at 1280x1024. Games look so much better when the jaggies are removed, and textures looks so much sharper, especially textured floors and walls. I do feel I would have been as pleased with the 128MB version though. The card gets quite warm..well.. scratch that.. hot. It gets very hot and good case ventilation and air flow is very important. I had no trouble running this in the ABIT IC7-G or the Gigabyte GA-7NNXP at 8x AGP and the card remained stable at all times. The performance of this card is very high, and consequently so is the price. In a way I wished I had saved some money and gone for the 128MB but maybe this extra memory could prove benificial towards some newer games yet to be released such as Halflife2. But you cannot make decisions based on "maybes" so my recommendation is save some money and go for the 128MB version.
- Extremely fast card.
- Very small fan, very quiet in operation.
- Very expensive
- Gets quite hot. Good air movement is essential.
- Poor package contents from Connect3D.
