Ubisoft announced that it has signed an agreement with Korean developer Bluehole Studio for the European retail distribution of TERA, the ambitious next-generation fantasy MMO currently scheduled for release in 2011.
Developed by Bluehole Studio using the Unreal Engine 3, TERA will offer outstanding visuals and one of the most engaging game worlds to date. From the innovative real-time combat system, the gamepad controls and a political system where players can elect the province leaders, TERA is set to deliver an extremely compelling experience. With a peak of more than 200,000 CCU during the open beta and 37 game servers currently running three months after the official launch, the fantasy MMO game has broken all records in Korea. Bluehole Studio will provide a dedicated, westernized version of TERA for the European and North American audience.
“TERA is an ambitious and visually stunning game that will stretch the boundaries of MMOs. We are very excited to make it available to European customers” said Alexis Garavaryan, EMEA Business Development Associate at Ubisoft.
TERA will be available in three languages at launch -- English, French and German. Ubisoft will manage the distribution of TERA to its vast network on European retail partners, while online distribution and publishing operations for TERA in Europe will be handled by Berlin-based publisher Frogster Interactive Pictures AG.
“We believe that the outstanding distribution network and credible recognition which Ubisoft retained so far as a key player in the European market will be a great support for TERA's distribution in Europe. With such a strong partner at our side, we expect to continue our successful performance in Europe", Gang-seok Kim, CEO of Bluehole Studio, commented on the contract.
