Recent AMD product launches, including the so called Dragon platform with the new Phenom-II series processors, has increased the interests of AMD products in the Nordics. With competitive pricing AMD has managed to increase its market share in a segment where the competitors are usually very strong.
- We have seen very positive sales figures in the Nordics and we are convinced that our new products such as the Radeon 4890 graphics card is going to be just as successful, says Andrew Buxton, sales manager Northern Europe AMD.
The largest e-tailer for IT-components in the Nordics, Komplett has shown good sales figures for 2008. The sales of graphic cards increased with 10 percent the three first quarters and were followed up by very strong Christmas sales. They also present very strong sales figures for components by AMD and confirm the company’s strong position in the Nordic region.
-About 40 percent of all processors we sell in the Nordics comes from AMD and for graphic cards every other card sold is an AMD/ATI card, says Dag Pettersen, Category manager PC Components at Komplett.
Sales in the different price segments are about the same even if AMD is a little bit stronger in the mainstream segment than in the top segment, with some very affordable products.
- Among AMD’s products the Radeon HD4870 and the HD4850 has sold very well and the HD 4650 is also going well within our target groups. In addition the new Phenom II-processors have also shown good sales figures, says Dag Pettersen.
