Sapphire sprænger ballonen med deres nye HD3850 og HD3870 bud. De nye serier betyder også brud med Pro, XT og XTX betegnelserne (indtil videre). De nye kort er ikke direkte afløsere til HD2900XT - men introducere directX 10.1 og AMDs UVD til highend serien.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

De første sneak peaks af kortene vidner om mindre print (PCB) end forgængeren, så regn med en cm eller to mere plads i dybden i kabinettet, vigtigst er dog det mindre strømforbrug. Single slot løsningerne i HD3850 kortene, kunne være potentielle HTPC gamer kort.

Med det mindre strømforbrug er 8pins pci-e strømstikket forsvundet igen, så ingen ekstra investeringer for at enable OC af dette kort.  Den reelle betydning af 256Bit raminterfacet får vi at se de næste par dage når de officielle test kommer.

Personligt glæder jeg mig til, at se de danske priser og hvornår de er på lager herhjemme. Engelske Overclockers.uk kom til at liste kortene lidt for tidligt, her var der allerede enkelte modeller i begge klasser på lager, samt priser under 2000,-

Ydelsen på HD3850 og HD3870 er måske ikke over HD2900XT, men selvom de ikke er det - har kortene en plads under juletræet, hvis de kan ramme den rigtige pris omkring 1500,-

Med komboen Q6600 og P35 Chipset, er der sikkert mange som vil kunne få gode opgraderinger til under 6000,- inkl. grafikkort og PSU i julegave.
