Although stand-alone graphics cards are not going to disappear from the shelves any time soon, manufacturers are beginning to make adjustments. Quite a number of graphics card manufacturers are beginning to offer a small selection of motherboards sporting IGP (Integrated Graphics Platform) chipsets. What makes all this seem so unrealistic is the inability for any IGP chipset to deliver 3D performance that can play today’s games at an acceptable level. Unfortunately, there are currently many factors limiting an integrated graphics engine from delivering what I would call acceptable game play.
