ASUS RX3041 Router

ASUS RX3041 Router

Taipei, Taiwan; Sep 22, 2005 – ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS), a leading provider of high-performance networking solutions, today introduced the RX3041 broadband router, which leveraged an easy three-step setup process and secured network protection to deliver a user-friendly yet safe networking environment.

3-step setup
Users can get the RX3041 up and running in three convenient steps. Simply fill in basic configuration information on three separate pages, and the RX3041 is ready to go.

Step 1: Input router information such as host name and time zone.

Step 2: Input type of access (cable modem, static IP address, PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP, L2TP).

Step3: Select username and password (if L2TP, PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP is used).

Advanced network protection
To ensure network and data security, the RX3041 broadband router leverages industry-leading firewall features. In addition to SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection), DoS (Denial of Service) protection, it offers advanced network protection features including ACL (Access Control list), URL filters and time-based access.

ACL facilitates users or network administrators to control router access based on client MAC address, IP address and port number. URL filter allows companies to prevent employees from visiting websites that violate corporate Internet access policies. Parents can also restrict their children from accessing pornography or violence-promoting sites. Time-based access limits network access at specified time frame, for instance during office hours or homework time.

Comprehensive NAT support
The RX3041 router comes with NAT (Network Address Translation) and two types of Virtual Server, Port Mappings and IP Mappings. Port Mappings redirects incoming Internet requests based on TCP/UDP port numbers to other computers in the private network. IP Mappings redirect every Internet request to a public IP to another computer in the private network. NAT translates the packets from a number of private IP addresses as if they originate from a single public IP address to provide a basic firewall between the Internet and private network.

8MB memory
With 8MB of memory, compared to the 4MB in competing routers, the RX3041 enables up to 4,000 connections, allowing more computers and users to link up to the network and the Internet. The larger memory space for saving connections prevents overall performance drop off due to too many connections.
