Asus has produced yet another excellent mainboard. Its performance is good and its stability is excellent. After a week's long of testing, I did not experience any problems nor any stability issues. Neither did I have to reboot the computer. This is very important as servers are usually running 24/7, thus downtime must be kept to a minimum.
The downside is perhaps the lack of tweaking options in the BIOS. You can't change the FSB. Multiplier can be altered but only if your CPU allows (most P4s have fixed multipliers). RAM tweaking options are very limited as well. Only 2 RAM speeds are available (533 and 667MHz). The 4 common RAM parameters could be set as well but that's about all. This is understood as servers are not intended to be running at overclocked speeds. Stability and reliability is often more important than performance.
Lastly, this board is not intended for everyone. Its features are about what a general server board should have and the price is higher than most desktop boards. The inclusion of a 16x PCI-E slot allows this board to act as a workstation and more important to many of us, gaming!! If you are building a stable and reliable server for your home or office and double it up as a graphics workstation or gaming machine, this board may be the answer.
