You should know that WMP10 works like WMP9 – it cannot be uninstalled; the only way to actually remove it is to make a restore point before installation and jump back to it. You'll need Windows XP to try it out--those with earlier versions of Windows are out of luck.

As far as I can tell, system restore is the only real way to roll back from Win Media 10

  • Det var sq nedern..

Jeg ved ikke om det virker... Bruger ikke XP.. Og kører selv med WMP 6.4...
Jeg tager self. ikke ansvaret for hvis der sker noget osv osv.. ;)

    WMP 10 Uninstall
This is a very easy way to uninstall WMP 10 beta.

    1) Download MPSetupXP.exe (WMP 9 installation) from http://microsoft.com/mediaplayer

    2) Open MPSetupXP.exe in WinRAR or something similar, and extract everything (except the playlist files) into C:\windows\system32.

    3) Click "Yes to All" when asked about overwriting the files, and if it says a number of files are in use, you could either i) Go into safe mode and do this, or, ii) Go to each file windows says in use and add ".bak" to the end of them, and you can then install the files.

    4) After that is done, go to the start menu, run, and type this
"c:\windows\inf\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP", which will resolve version mismatches in the DLLs.

    5) Finally, to make sure everything's WMP9 again, go to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player and delete everything in that directory. Within a few seconds, the files should be replaced, and try running wmplayer.exe (but not from system32)

    6) Voila!

    7) After all that's done, run MPSetupXP.exe again, which should now let you install it, and that'll clean up all the extra inconsistencies, and resolve any streaming problems.

    OR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How to rollback from WMP10-beta to your previous version:
A: Go to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
B: Select "Windows Media Player 10" in order to rollback.

If that does not roll you back, reinstall the player on top of the existing
install of WMP10-beta (do not try to munge the WMP files by hand: that will
just break your system- you will need to complete one extra reinstall in
    order to counteract that).
If you need to reboot, do so, and then again reinstall the player on top of
the existing install. The rollback point will NOT be functional until you
complete a reinstall of the player that does NOT require a reboot.
At that point, the WMP10 rollback point in the Add/Remove Programs Control
    Panel should be functional.

WMP10-beta also creates a System Restore point for you to use if you need
it. If you had System Restore turned off, WMP10-beta showed you a message
explaining that having System Restore turned off would disable your ability
to roll back. While the above steps on rollback should allow you to
rollback using the Add/Remove Programs method: System Restore shouldn't
    really be off.
