Although this chipset will have official support for the 1600 MHz FSB, it seems that Intel has decided to drop the official support for DDR3 memory at 1600 MHz. Although X48 motherboards will work with DDR3 at 2000 MHz (and above), its maker has left the chip with only DDR3-1333 support. The X48 will be the chipset of choice for Intel's upcoming 45nm Extreme CPUs, the QX9650 and QX9770 and will not replace the X38, but it will have to put up a good fight against Nvidia's C73 which will arrive in Q1 2008.
